We're very pleased to welcome you to the new MWIS website!
Over the past few months, we've been working hard with our designers to give MWIS a fresh and user friendly new look to start the 2020s. The site is fully functional and responsive for desktop and smartphone use, optimised to ensure our forecasts are just a simple click or tap away!
All ten MWIS forecast regions are visible right at the top of the homepage, alongside our popular planning video published twice weekly to the MWIS YouTube page (more where that came from in the months ahead too!)
Clicking on the forecast area name takes you to the full forecast detail for the next 3 days, proudly sponsored on the website by individuals and businesses in the mountain enviroment. Please support these businesses where you can - we couldn't function without their brilliant support!
Despite the new look, you'll be no doubt pleased to hear that our signature PDF forecasts are formatted exactly as you know and love, and can be downloaded and printed out where necessary. (Please recycle the paper once you've done with it!)
Links to synoptic charts and webcams can be found in the menu boxes further down the homepage. Here you also find our brand new blog, which will be updated by the MWIS forecasting team with our general thoughts, snippets of information and background learning on all things mountain weather. We have also launched our new 'MWIS Ambassadors' project - these are trusted individuals and professionals in the mountain community who love to share their knowledge of the great outdoors and promote safety on the hills. They will contribute to our new blog section of the site, so expect to hear from them! If you want to get involved with this, please get in touch via the contact us page.
You'll also find info about our new training days - 'A day with MWIS', where you can come and learn all about mountain weather forecasting directly from a profressional MWIS meteorologist.
We're active on social media too, with reports and images through the day - all the links in the website footer. Tag us in your pictures and we'll share a selection of your top mountain vistas!
This website is only the beginning of further new additions due to be added throughout the year ahead. These include more app content for iOS and Android in the near future, plus mapping tools and lots of learning content.
So have a look around, let us know your thoughts, and keep up to date with everything MWIS. Here's to great and safe adventures on the mountains!
